Quincy City Council Student Representative Receives AWC Scholarship

Quincy City Council student representative Silvia Esparza was one of the recipients to the receive the AWC Center for Quality Communities 2019 scholarship.

Silvia has a passion for public service and working with youth. She served as student representative to the Quincy City Council and is also involved in local community organizations including Quincy Partenership for Youth, Youth Action Interact and her church youth group. In 2018, she attended the Western Leaders Summit put on by the Association of Washington State Leaders, further inspiring her public service work. Through Quincy Partnership for Youth, Silvia has spearheaded a peer to peer initiative program called Sources of Strength (SOS). SOS is an evidence-based program for the prevention of suicide, violence, bullying and substance abuse.
