Take Precautions to Avoid Freezing Pipes

With temperatures in the single digits, we would like to remind residents to take appropriate precautions to avoid freezing pipes. Steps you can take to minimize your chances of pipes freezing are:
- Leave a small stream of cold water running in your sinks. Even a trickle can help keep your pipes from freezing.
- Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow heat in.
- If you plan to be away from home, leave the heat on.
If you encounter a pipe burst, call the City immediately at 509-787-3523 ext. 6, and request to have your water shut off. Please DO NOT attempt to turn the main line off on your own. If you need to have your water shut off after normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm), please call the non-emergent M.A.C.C. number 509-787-2222. Please stay safe and warm!
