QUINCY LIBRARY HOURS Monday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm The Quincy Library is located at 108 B Street SW and is a branch of the North Central Regional Library (NCRL). The City pays for building maintenance and repair while NCRL hires and pays the employee salaries and other expenses. NCRL's website is http://www.ncrl.org/. The library offers a variety of programs for kids of all ages. In addition to books it also offers internet access, wireless, free video & DVD rentals and books on tape. News & Events...& Exciting news!! The City of Quincy was just recently awarded the Community Development Block Grant for $900,000 and combined with the generous amount of $1,000,000.00 that the City of Quincy has set aside for the project of a new library, we now have enough money to build the New Library in Quincy!!! The city has purchased the land on the corner of Central Avenue and C St SE, and we are currently working with the architect firm MJ Neal & Associates to finalize the design. But unfortunately this won't cover all the expenses of the project. Some of the items that are not included in the initial construction costs are: Skylights & Sunroom Children's Fun Feature Oak Trim Landscaping Modular Carpet Entry Pond and Columnar Basalt Signs Shelving Furniture Multi-Media Equiptment So we are needing help from the community to continue with this project. If you are interested or have questions please contact the library for more information. New Library: Quincy's library has served the city for over 50 years! The library no longer has the space to serve our growing population, nor the facilities to apply to many technological advances of the last half century. Our new library, designed by Brad Brisbine from the Wenatchee firm of MJ Neal Associates, will nearly triple the size and offerings of the current library. It will include *A multi-purpose meeting room, available after library hours *A sun-lit quiet reading area *A teen area *A special room designated for children's books and activities *Space dedicated for twice the present number of computers. Quincy Valley Library Foundation: Since its formation in 2008, the Quincy Valley Library Foundation has been seeking funds to build a new public library for the people of Quincy. The QVLF is open to all residents of the Quincy area. Volunteering offers you an opportunity to invest in the excellence of our community. Meetings are posted at the Quincy Public Library and membership is free! Next Library Foundation Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday September 21st at 7pm at Quincy Library. We are always needing more help. Feel free to attend if interested. Or call 787-2359 if you have questions. To date, the City has contributed $1 million to the project and has purchased the site for our new library, on the corner of Central Avenue South and "C" Street Southeast. And the City of Quincy just received the $900,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant. We now have the money to build it. This money will cover the cost of construction, but many items do not fall into that category. The Foundation will be applying for grants to meet its goal, but community support, private as well as public, will be required to raise the needed monies. COMMUNITY SUPPORT IS VITAL TO OUR PROJECT!How to Contribute The QVLF is a community based nonprofit corporation formed under the laws of the state of Washington. All contributions are tax deductible. Contributions can be made at the Library in the QVLF donation box or mailed to P.O. Box 1666, Quincy, WA 98848. Unless you indicate otherwise, all contributions at this time will be used for the new library project. Our Continuing Mission Once our new public library is built, the QVLF will continue as a group of volunteers committed to supporting and helping our library serve the diversity of interests and residents that mark our great community.
