Public Works Dept.

A full service department - Public Works has a Maintenance Supervisor, 9 full-time staff and, in the summer, four part-time positions offered to deserving local youth.

The Public Works Dept. is responsible for the two separate sewer systems - Industrial and Domestic, as well as supervision of refuse and composting facility; a water system capable of pumping 6,000,000 gallons per day, approximately 30 miles of city streets, six City Parks totaling 38.7 acres and an Aquatic Center with two pools and two water slides.

The newest park, Lauzier, is located on 13th Avenue SW just south of Monument Elementary School and provides two lighted softball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts and a stage.
